Did you know that there is an organization right here in Dutchtown that teams up regularly with the International Institute to help welcome refugees in the St. Louis area? After completing major renovations on the building located at 3418 Meramec St., Resalat Community Center opened as a safe and welcoming space for immigrants from Afghanistan — gathering people together for regular prayer services, social events and volunteer work.
Our neighbors at Resalat Community Center work side by side with the International Institute to help refugees from Afghanistan settle into their new city. Members of the community center pool their resources to help provide refugees with essentials such as furniture, clothing and food as well as help provide translation and transportation services as these newcomers try to find their footing in St. Louis.
Join DT2 at Resalat Community Center for an Open House from 5:30 to 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 19th! This is a great opportunity to tour the space, meet all of the people that make it possible as well as learn more about the work that Resalat is doing in the community.
Starting at 6:30pm, DT2 will be hosting a fun filled Trivia Night across the parking lot from Resalat Community Center at Feasting Fox. A donation of $10 is suggested with all proceeds going to Resalat Community Center to continue its generous work in the community. Beer will be provided to After Hours participants thanks to DT2 and delicious food will be available for purchase through the restaurant. Show off your knowledge of history, the middle east, and Dutchtown to win a fabulous prize and DT2 bragging rights!
