In partnership with Thomas Dunn Learning Center, the Dutchtown Community Improvement District, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Illume: The Behavioral Health Center of Excellence is offering free mental health first aid training for Dutchtown business owners and residents!
This course teaches people how to assist individuals experiencing mental health issues with the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan:
- Assess for risk of self-harm
- Listen non-judgmentally
- Give reassurance and information
- Encourage appropriate professional help
- Encourage self-help and other support strategies
Prior to the in-person course, participants will complete a two-hour online training. Make sure to register soon using an email address you check regularly to ensure access to the online training. Completion of the course and passage of an exam qualify participants for their Mental Health First Aid certificate.
