Join Us on Saturday, June 13th
Many of our neighbors have heard the call to deliver justice for George Floyd and bring an end to the police brutality that threatens the lives of black people across America.
Dutchtown families have come together to organize a march to provide a safe and peaceful way to show solidarity with George Floyd’s family and the Black Lives Matter movement. We desire an event where we can lift up the voices of our youth — many of whom have been looking for a safe outlet to stand up and speak out about injustice.
Neighbors and supporters can gather in the parking lot of the Neighborhood Innovation Center, 3207 Meramec at Compton. The march will depart from there at 8:46am (8 minutes and 46 seconds was the amount of time George Floyd was fatally pinned down by Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin). We will head south on Compton, west on Osceola, north on Grand, and east on Meramec back to the NIC.
Although we will be outdoors for this event, we still encourage participants to wear masks and practice safe social distancing. It’s also recommended that you bring water, comfortable walking shoes, and signs.
